French-German politician. He was a student leader during the unrest of May 1968 in France. He was known during that time as Dany le Rouge (“Danny the Red”, because of both his politics and the colour of his hair).
Member of the European Parliament since 1999, he claims to be liberal-libertarian. Elected head of the list of Greens in France, then representative of the German Greens in 2004, he became spokesperson and co-chair of the European Green Party created in 2004.
